Weather Patterns
Photos of various types of weather make a great collage for paper placemats.

Description:
Not only is weather interesting, but it is literally all around us. Introduce your child to all kinds of weather through this simple art project. Before you begin, check out a children?s reference book from the library (or go online) and share some basic information about sunshine, rain, snow, sleet, hail, tornadoes, etc. After the place mats are completed, your child will have an engaging diversion while waiting for lunch to be served.

Step by Step:
  1. Collect photographs from magazines depicting different types of weather.

  2. Discuss the type of weather each photo shows.

  3. Cut out the most interesting aspect from each photo and glue in a collage formation on a piece of construction paper.

  4. Laminate, or apply a clear plastic adhesive sheet to the top to seal.
