Sensory Smorgasbord
Sensory Smorgasbord
A baby's daily routine is a feast for his or her senses.

Description:
To a baby, even the most ordinary experience is exciting and new. His or her senses are alive to smells, sights, feelings, and sounds that fade into our sensory background. Just snuggling with Mom and smelling her perfume, or being pushed in a stroller through a playground fills a baby's developing brain with information. Here are a few simple ways to help your baby explore his or her senses.

Step by Step:
  1. Bring baby into the kitchen as you are cooking to experience the sense of smell. Take him or her into the garden to smell a flower.
  2. Stroke baby's face with different fabrics like silk and terrycloth to experience the sense of touch.
  3. Place a mirror or mobile near baby to excite the eyes.
  4. Bring baby with you to the grocery store to delight all the senses.
