Charity and Donations
It is good to be generous to those less fortunate and here?s a way to help your child learn the meaning of charity.

Description:
Have your child collect his old, but still useful, toys and out-grown clothes, and put them in clean bags or boxes. Explain that he is going to give away the clothes to an organization that will give them to a child, whose parents can?t afford to buy him toys and clothes or will sell his donated items to make money to help poor children. Arrange to donate them to your favorite charity. You have not only given a gift to those in need, but you have also given your child the most precious gift of all--teaching him the meaning of giving.

Step by Step:
If you don?t have a favorite charity, look in the yellow pages of your phone book under Social Service Organizations with your child and select a few to call.
After you?ve found a group that will accept your donations, arrange to take them there with your child.
Let your child help unload the car and personally give away the donations to the accepting volunteer.
Ask the volunteer to explain to your child what they will do with the donations.
If there is a store connected with the charitable organization, browse through it with your child and talk with a volunteer about why he or she volunteers.
