     In an effort to help keep your child safe, below is a list of the most recent product recalls to help you feel more at ease when shopping for your children. Please keep checking back regularly as this list is constantly being updated.

 

Product:   Wooden Puzzles, Infant Rattles, Pacifier Holders, and Stroller Toys
Date of Recall:  08/28/08
Stores Located:  Specialty toy stores nationwide and online retailers, “HABA” is printed on them
Issue:   Toys contain small pieces that can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants
Dates Released:  January 2002 – August 2008
What You Can Do: Take away recalled items immediately and contact Habermaass for a free replacement or full refund

Product:   Batteries Used in Radio-Controlled Helicopter Kits (Heli-Max)
Date of Recall:  08/19/08
Stores Located:  Hobby stores nationwide for $200
Issue:   The rechargeable battery can overheat and catch fire while charging, posing a fire hazard
Dates Released:  November 2007 – March 2008
What You Can Do: Stop using the recalled batteries and contact Hobbico for a replacement battery

Product:   Learning Pots & Pans Toys
Date of Recall:  08/07/08
Stores Located:  Discount department and toy stores nationwide
Issue:   Missing screws in the blue toy pan can cause plastic cover to come loose and release small beds, posing a choking hazard
Dates Released:  October 2007 – August 2008
What You Can Do: Check the bottom of the pan and make sure six screws are installed. If any are missing, take the toy away and contact Fisher Price for a replacement.

Product:   Mother Hubbard’s Cupboards Cribs
Date of Recall:  08/05/08
Stores Located:  Juvenile product stores
Issue:   The crib fails to meet federal safety standards. The distance between the mattress support bracket in the lowest position and the top of the side rail in the highest position is less than the required 26 inches, posing a fall hazard to children who climb over the railing.
Dates Released:  March 2006 – March 2008
What You Can Do: Stop using the cribs immediately and contact the company to receive instructions on how to install the support brackets to eliminate the hazard.

Product:   Baby Appleseed Cribs
Date of Recall:  08/05/08
Stores Located:  Specialty juvenile product stores nationwide
Issue:   The crib fails to meet federal safety standards. The cribs have a two mattress support system. The secondary mattress support, used for the lowest position, does not meet the full 26 inch minimum height in its lowest position, allowing children inside to crawl over the railing, posing a fall hazard.
Dates Released:  December 2006 – September 2007 (manufactured dates before August 2007)
What You Can Do: Stop using the crib in the third lowest position, which uses the wooden mattress support, and contact Baby Appleseed to receive a repair kit. Anyone using the crib with the metal mattress support in the top or middle positions can continue to use the crib in those positions while awaiting a repair kit. (Repair Kits will be available from the company in mid-August 2008)
