Mommy Time Tips

How often do we hear it?  “You need to take a little time out for Mommy!”  Yeah, sure, but when? And if you do find the time, what to do with it?  Here are some tips from other moms on finding the time and using it well for you to try out:

When?

  • Early in the morning, before the others are up
  • Just after everyone goes out the door to work/school
  • Sitting in the car before work
  • On the weekend, send dad and the kids out to a movie
  • During nap time
  • At night, after everyone has gone to sleep and the house is quiet

What to Do?

  • Any combo of a bubble bath, relaxing music, and lighting candles is super popular!

This helps relax by soothing the senses on many levels: touch, sound, smell and sight!

  • Surfing the web

Lot’s of mommies enjoy emailing, shopping, or just chatting online with a friend.

  • Spa and salon treatments

From just a manicure, to massage, to complete pampering – giving yourself over to someone else’s care.  Let someone else “mommy” you!

  • Taking a nap

Either with the kids, or in a favorite spot, or even with a pet, can give you just the pick-me-up you need.

  • Just generally being creative

Reading, sewing, crocheting, scrap-booking, jewelry making, writing, even cooking; all ways I which other moms feel they can focus something different and relax.

  • Take a class in anything

And as an added bonus; that way, your time is scheduled in every week!

  • Watching a favorite TV show or movie without interruptions

That’s why they invented the recording devices of today!  For us to cuddle up and enjoy at our leisure!

  • Outdoor activities

Gardening, going for a walk, or even taking part in an outdoor sport can do wonders for your energy levels!  The effects of sunlight and fresh air cannot be underestimated!

  • Meet up with other mommies

When you’re all child-free after the morning drop off, why not meet for breakfast, or a coffee, or even lunch!  Chatting and laughing is super therapy for the soul!

  • Refreshing beverages

Hot or cold, on their own, or as part of another relaxing ritual.
