The holiday season isn't complete without going to see The Nutcracker.

Description:
Even after 100 years, The Nutcracker is the most widely attended and performed ballet in the world. Its fairy-tale plot, familiar music, and special effects captivate audiences of all ages. So, as the holidays grow closer, track down the closest performance, and enjoy a theatrical experience you won't soon forget.

Step by Step:
  1. Purchase tickets in advance so that, if possible, you can buy aisle seats.
  2. Before the show, have conversation with your children about theater etiquette:
    • Remind them that there is no talking during the performance. Tell them they can save their questions until intermission. And if they MUST tell you something, instruct them to whisper softly in your ear.
    • Explain that there is no eating during the performance. If you bring along hard candy, unwrap it before the curtain rises.
    • Tell them that there is no running in the aisles.
    • Instruct them to hold their applause until others start applauding.
  3. Days before the show begin talking about the experience so that your child looks forward to it as something interesting.
  4. One you arrive at the theater make sure that you know the shortest route to the restrooms in case you have to leave for a little emergency during the show.
  5. It's always a good idea to take your child to the restroom as close to the start of the show as possible in the hope that he or she will make it through to the intermission.
