Let's have a parade!

Description:

Whether it is the exhilaration a toddler feels when beating on a bevy of kitchen pots, or the way a familiar tune can soothe a crying infant, music is a powerful influence in every child's life.

In addition to the joy it brings, music is also important to a child's development by strengthening the ability to concentrate, increasing coordination through movement, and encouraging language development through exposure to new words and patterns.

Step by Step:
1. Cut a strip of paper to fit around an oatmeal container.
2. With red, white and blue crayon have your little child decorate it any way he'd like.
3. Add some stick-on stars.
4. Glue the decorated strip of paper about the oatmeal container.
5. Place some rice and beans (mmm, sounds good)and macaroni into the container.
6. Seal the oatmeal box closed with tape.
7. Play some music to have your child march to while shaking the musical instrument he made.
8. Let the parade begin! How very patriotic don't you agree?!
