Regular kites are too big and unmanageable for a toddler, but he?ll love your homemade streamer kite.

Description:

To help your child understand aerodynamics in its purest form, make a streamer kite to allow him to see and experience the wind at work. It will provide endless fun for a toddler on a windy day.

This streamer kite version is easier to handle than a full-size kite, but it flutters just as happily in a strong breeze.

Step by Step:

  • Cut crepe-paper streamers into pieces approximately 3 ft long.
  • Tie three streamers in different colors around an empty paper towel roll.
  • Watch what happens when the breeze picks up the streamers.

Materials:
Several colors of crepe-paper streamers
Empty paper towel rolls
