Let Your Baby Play with Her Food
Playing with your food can be lots of fun!

For most children, the ability to utilize the pincer grip (grasping with the thumb and forefinger) develops between nine and twelve months, so this is the perfect time to introduce your little one to finger foods. While messy, this activity will help your child perfect this grip. H
e or she will also love experiencing the different textures and tastes of all the foods.

Step-by-Step:
  • Spread some plastic under the high chair and put a bib on your child.
  • Lay out appropriate finger foods with interesting colors and shapes. Try yellow cheese cut into triangles, "O"-shaped cereal, square crackers, and some round green peas.
  • Demonstrate the pincer grip for your child be picking up an item between your thumb and forefinger.
  • Enjoy your feast!
